About the Event

Ikebana, an ancient floral art of Japan, began in the 6th century, when Buddhism arrived in Japan via China. For centuries, the Japanese developed their own disciplined and distinguished style, from its original purpose of floral offerings to Buddha to decorative art. Ikebana has captured the attention of people around the world because of its beautiful, graceful lines and pleasing forms.

Our instructor Lily Zhang is an Executive Master of Ichiyo School of Ikebana, certified Master of Imperial Academy of Ikebana (帝国華道院) of Japan and President of Ichiyo School of Ikebana China Chapter (2017-). Lily is actively involved in ikebana around the world, first teaching in Japan and now in Shanghai, sharing her passion for ikebana with friends and students. Join us as Lily shows us how to create our own ikebana floral arrangement.
