About the Event
Moxibustion (艾灸 àijiǔ) is the burning of mugwort, an aromatic plant, over your meridian points. These comprise a network of nodes in your body through which your life energy, or qi, flows. The purpose of this practice is to stimulate these nodes and get your qi and your blood flowing. It’s also intended to counteract “yang” deficiencies and “coldness” in the body. Is any of this scientifically proven? No, but it certainly seems to have worked over the years. Topics of this session will include moxa, meridians, and the similarities and differences between acupuncture and moxibustion. We will learn the proper way to preform moxibustion, to experience it, and practice it with its tools to do the treatment on our own.
