About the Event
What’s the difference between Pilates and other exercises? The answer is where the emphasis is placed during the practice. Pilates focuses on building core control, pelvic stability, and axial length - all done in neutral spine. It takes a lot of precision and technique to do a range of movements in a position where the spine is in an optimal position for equal force distribution - so we neither over- nor under-recruit any muscle group. Most of all, a neutral spine position allows us to access our deep core muscles, the essential stabilizers that enable us to move freely without any risk of injuries. In this class we will use small props to regress and progress exercises to help us work our body differently, and according to our needs. This also helps us to better understand key strengths and weaknesses in our body, and ways to work with it.
