About the Event

The West Bund waterfront is one of the most attractive destinations in Shanghai to go for strolls, jogging, skateboarding and to gather at the dog park. On any given weekend, you will see yoga sessions on the lawn and families pitching tents to enjoy picnics. What many expats and even locals do not realize is that this was the site of an urban planning experiment involving art and design. Please join Art Historian Julie Chun at the West Bund x Pompidou Art Museum as she takes you back to the year 2011 when the area was a desolate harbor and narrate the ways in which the area emerged as a global epicenter for art and continues to evolve and transform as the AI hub of tomorrow. After a brief introduction of the history of the West Bund development, we will explore Raoul Dufy’s exhibition “The Melody of Happiness,” comprising of the collection from the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris.
