Bike Ride with Bato
Time & Location
About the Event
Join us for a bike ride that begins in the Former French Concession on streets shaded by beautiful trees. We will then make our way to the international settlement in Jing’an District and stop at a small local restaurant for a traditional Shanghai-style breakfast. We will try the famous Four Heavenly Kings (Chinese pancake, fried dough, steamed sticky rice balls, and soy milk) and learn why they are popular things to eat. After that, we will continue our ride to Suzhou Creek and bike along the river to the Bund. Finally, we will pedal north to Hongkou where the Jewish refugees stayed during World War II when Shanghai was a shelter for them. There will be two other stops that we’ll make to try food from different parts of the country, and see how they are made.
