Small Groups

To join a SEA Small Group activity, you must be a SEA member. SEA is always looking for new group ideas and members to lead these small groups. Please contact SEA@shanghaisea.com with your suggestions or questions.

Architecture Study Group

This is an inquisitive and informal group who meet monthly, usually the first Wednesday of the month. The group focuses on Shanghai architecture, history, and culture and does so in the context of interpretive walks lasting about two hours and ending with a casual lunch. Each group member commits, alone or with another member, to research and lead at least one walk per year. No architecture degree or background is required, just a strong interest in Shanghai architecture combined with a love of walking. For more information please contact us at SEA@shanghaisea.com.

International Women's Choir

The International Women's Choir meets at a member's home in Ridgewood Park near Hong Qiao Flower Market, every Tuesday from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. This is a "no-audition required," fun group. Conductors, instrumentalists, and piano players are welcome too. Meet new friends while enjoying singing. For more information please contact us at SEA@shanghaisea.com.

Leisure Biking

This group of bike riders meets monthly - join the WeChat group for specific dates. We have new routes each month around the Puxi and Pudong areas. Outings generally last about two hours and are guided. Bike rentals are available. For more information please contact us at SEA@shanghaisea.com.

Mahjong

Book Club

If you are a book lover and enjoy an intellectual discussion about what you've read, this is the group for you! The book club meets monthly on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 AM to 12 PM. Location will be announced one week in advance. We meet at restaurants or coffee shops and share the responsibility of leading the discussion. Knit, Crochet, and Natter

This informal group meets weekly on Wednesdays at 11 AM in a group member's home. We welcome all skill levels and all fiber crafts, such as crochet, knit, tat, and embroidery. Everyone will bring their own project and supplies. We exchange ideas, techniques, and socialize. Photography Group

Let’s get together and make some beautiful photographs! This group meets monthly to share photography techniques and capture the beauty of Shanghai through photography. All levels of photography are welcome, so grab your walking shoes and bring your camera or smartphone to explore this amazing city! We meet on the first Monday of each month, with occasional adjustments for conditions. Meeting points will vary across the city. Veggie Lovers Group

This informal group is for exploring the plant-based lifestyle in Shanghai. We meet approximately once a month to try vegan or vegetarian restaurants, attend events, or cooking classes pertaining to a veggie lifestyle. This group is also for information, recipe sharing, and support. If you are plant-based, vegan, vegetarian or just like to try new food, please join! Tennis

This group meets every Tuesday from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Shanghai Stadium. We play double games, share the court fees, and balls. This group is for players who are intermediate level and up.
