The Shanghai Expatriate Association (SEA) is a non-profit, multinational, member-based organization that is run by member volunteers. SEA was established in 1986 to provide an enriching social and cultural network for expat families in Shanghai and it is one of the largest groups of its kind in China. 

​

SEA is unique in that our members represent approximately 40 nationalities and we have over 20 events, trips, and small group activities planned each month for our 350+ member families. We welcome any non-PRC passport holder as a member.

Membership in SEA entitles you and your family to attend any of our Events, Luncheons, Day Trips, Small Groups, or Travel Excursions, and to take advantage of our amazing membership discount program.

On average, SEA offers over 20 activities per month to our members.

We also have several small groups that you can join. Our current groups are: Mahjong, leisure biking, architecture study, monthly book clubs, an international women’s choir, and a photography group.
