About the Event

Join Janny Chyn, from Shanghai Pathways, for an authentic experience of local life by walking through a beautiful park named after Lu Xun, China's greatest writer of the 20th century. Lu Xun was also an important critic known for his sharp essays on the historical traditions and modern conditions of China. Inside the park, people participate in tai chi, ballroom dancing, singing in large groups and solo, playing instruments, engaging in various exercises, flying kites, and more.

This tour focuses on the mysterious side of modern China's history. We will follow Lu Xun's footsteps to discover the hidden house of the secret Sun Association (which was the birthplace of the left-wing revolution) and visit long-forgotten backstreets of the homes that once belonged to writers, poets, and artists. The walk will explore the Duolun Road cultural street and we will learn about the development of China's 20th-century politics and literature.
