About the Event
Shaoxing is located 200 km southwest of Shanghai and is famous for its Shaoxing wine, also known as yellow rice wine. Shaoxing wine is a traditional Chinese wine made by fermenting glutinous rice, water, and wheat-based yeast. It is widely used as both a beverage and a cooking wine in Chinese cuisine. It is also an ingredient in more than 70 Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) remedies and an ideal way to dispel cold energy from the body in the winter.
This winter, join us on a day trip to Shaoxing to find out about Shaoxing wine. Our day trip will start with a pleasant high speed train ride from Hongqiao Railway Station. We will visit Shaoxing Wine Museum to learn its 2500-year-old rice wine brewing history and enjoy a delicious local cuisine pairing with Shaoxing wine. In the afternoon, we will ride on a canal boat through the old town and visit the former residence of Luxun, China’s greatest modern writer.
