About the Event
Opened in July 2021, the Museum of Art Pudong was designed by famous French architect Jean Nouvel. It covers six floors, contains 13 exhibition halls, and has a rooftop terrace. Janny Chyn from Shanghai Pathways will guide us through this museum and introduce us to world-class Chinese artists: Xu Bing and Cai Guo Qiang, and visit their exhibitions. According to the museum’s website, “Xu Bing is one of the most influential artists on the international stage. His work is thoughtful and groundbreaking in its exploration of systems of language and the impact of globalization and cross-cultural understanding on human society. Cai Guoqiang often uses explosives in dramatic outdoor performances, and his eloquent sculptures and installation pieces frequently address controversial socio-political issues.” Join us as we explore these works of art together.
