About the Event
Join us for a day of biking and art. We will start the bike ride at MIFA 1862 in Lujiazui, formerly the 155-year-old Shanghai shipyard. It is now a fashionable art space and has become a new landmark in Shanghai. After biking among the skyscrapers we will take the bike lane along the river to visit the Modern Art Museum. Once a warehouse, the museum now hosts exhibitions and plays a major role in connecting artists and the public through events, forums, and art creation. We will continue the ride to the Nanpu Bridge and take a ferry boat across the Huangpu River. We will then make our way to the former expo sites on the Puxi side. Corporate pavilions sponsored by big companies like Cisco, Aurora, and General Motors are on the west side. We will visit the Power Station of Art Museum, which was the Future Pavilion during the expo. We will have a break with hot coffee/tea and enjoy a lovely river view from the rooftop.
The last stop will be the Dragon Museum in Xuhui, the largest private museum in China. Transformed from a coal hopper, the museum focuses on the contrastive display and study of art: western and eastern ancient and contemporary. We will end the tour at the Café du Dragon by the museum. After feeding our soul, we also need good food for our body. For those who prefer to explore more of the art world, a visit to the nearby Tank Shanghai would be great. Former oil storage tanks for the Longhua Airport were transformed into an education center with galleries and bookstores. Distance: 20 kilometers.
