About the Event

The Shanghai Biennale is one of the premiere international artistic extravaganzas to happen once every two years in our own backyard. Yet, a first visit can be overwhelming AND daunting AND exhaustive. What is the 14th Shanghai Biennale truly about? And why is the interior space so dark that you can’t even properly read the wall labels?

Join Art Historian and Art Critic Julie Chun who has published reviews about the Shanghai Biennale since 2012 when the exhibition moved into the space of the Power Station of Art. She will provide the historical context for understanding the who, what, when, where and even the how of the Shanghai Biennale since its inception to present and help sift the exhibition to a manageable undertaking that will bring some coherence to the viewing public.
