About the Event

Led by Julie Chun (Adjunct Professor of Art History), we will study how sculpture in China historically served as funerary objects and then later as religious markers for reliquaries, steles, and stone monuments. By the end of this museum lecture, you will recognize not only how statues evolved to gain religious prominence in China, but we will also learn the key traits defining Buddhist iconography.
