About the Event
Join tour guide Tom for a walk along the beautifully restored Suzhou Creek and a trip into Shanghai’s historical past. On the walk, Tom will share many past stories of the city and the river. You will see some historical relics and buildings along the way, such as the Tianhou Temple (the only Mazu temple in Shanghai), Yan Qing Li (the only English-style warehouse in Shanghai) and the Sihang Warehouse Memorial Museum. This warehouse, also known as the Joint Trust Warehouse, is an architectural and historical relic of the famous ‘Defense of Sihang Warehouse’ battle that took place in the 1937 Battle of Shanghai during the Second Sino-Japanese war. Parts of the building artificially recreate the events that occurred, and it holds many historical artifacts from that period. During the walking tour a simple Chinese lunch and coffee are included.
