About the Event
Old Shanghai has been known for its typical lane house style – the lilong. First built in the 1850’s with stone gates and later with small gardens, this style was used all over the city. Most Shanghainese lived in lilong-style houses, and for many decades this has been the main building style in Shanghai. However, most of them are now gone - except if you take a close look, you can still find them even deep downtown. It is like walking through an urban jungle if you know your way.
