About the Event

Join us for a bike ride that will begin in the Former French Concession on the streets shaded by beautiful trees. We will then make our way to the international settlement in the Jing’An District and stop at a restaurant for a traditional Shanghai-style breakfast. We will try the famous Four Heavenly Kings (Chinese pancake, fried dough, steamed sticky rice balls, and soy milk) and learn why they are the most popular things to eat. After breakfast, we will continue our ride to Suzhou Creek and bike along the river to the Bund.  Finally, we will pedal north to Hongkou where the Jewish refugees stayed during World War II when Shanghai was a shelter for them and thousands of lives were saved. We will make two stops to try food from different parts of the country and see how they are made.
