About the Event
In China, calligraphy is regarded as a special kind of ink painting, which represents spoken words but also communicates by the pictographs that represent the ideas behind those words. We welcome you to join us at Yuan Chinese Art Workshop for a lesson in calligraphy. The artist Qiang Li, who is member of the Shanghai Calligrapher’s Association, will teach us about Chinese calligraphy by showing how to write basic strokes and characters, meanwhile explaining the fundamental characteristics of calligraphy and the Chinese philosophy contained in calligraphy. During the class, we will enjoy five different scripts. Under Qiang Li’s guidance, we will be able to create a calligraphy work of our own on special paper.
