COST: RMB 350 MEET: Starbucks in Hongqiao Marriott Hotel 2270 Hongqiao Rd., near Jianhe Rd.
Time & Location
Apr 06, 7:45 AM – 7:30 PM
About the Event
Chongming Island, the third largest island in China, is located at the mouth of the Yangtze River. It is used to be an isolated Shanghai district and only accessible by ferry, but now the Shanghai Yangtze River Bridge connects it.
We will take the bus from Shanghai for about two hours (depending on traffic) to Chongming Island. Then, walk through villages to the shore of the Yangtze River (about 9 kilometers), enjoying the beauty and bridge from afar, building an appetite for lunch at a Chinese restaurant where we will try local cuisine. After lunch, we will get our bikes from a local shop and explore the island further appreciating the seasonal flowers, crops, and countryside views. The cycling is about 30 kilometers and mostly on a separated biking path. We will then board our coach and head back to Shanghai.
Cycling distance is 30 kilometers.
