Traditional and modern elements are captured during this extensive Photo Walk. Explore lush Fuxing Park, stroll a nostalgic neighborhood, visit Mao Zedong’s former residence, and capture the energy of a bustling Shanghai market through your camera lens with one of China’s first freelance photographers, Gangfeng Wang. A published and award-winning photographer, Gangfeng brings decades of insights for capturing the beauty of China’s street life and documenting the diversity of the human experience.

Find captivating scenes for your camera as senior citizens practice TaiChi, swing swords, and sing karaoke in the lovely former French Concession gardens of Fuxing Park. Take a short drive to Zhangyuan and walk the neighborhood in which Gangfeng grew up to hear fascinating childhood stories while photographing buildings now renovated in traditional Shikumen (store gate) style, a mix of Western and Chinese architectural elements.

Proceed to Mao Zedong’s former residence where he lived with his family in 1924 and step inside for a brief photo session. Next, capture the architecture and stunning interiors of the largest Starbucks Reserve Roastery in the world before visiting a vibrant, local wet market. Sharpen your lens focus on the market’s hundreds of vendors and products and witness the art of bargaining between customers and shopkeepers. End your walk with a gracious invitation to Gangfeng’s home to enjoy homemade Shanghai dumplings while sharing the day’s best camera shots.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend the event after receipt of confirmation, please notify us immediately by emailing events@seashanghai.org. If it's the day of the event, please ALSO notify the coordinator listed on the event by phone, text or WeChat.

If you need to cancel after September 19, 2024, our SEA cancellation policy applies which states you might still have to pay for your registered event, depending on the vendor. SEA will notify you to either collect or let you pay it at your next registered event.
