About the Event
Please be invited to a special talk (and optional lunch) with one of the rising generations of Chinese artists, Zhang Ruyi, to better understand the new directions in contemporary sculpture. Unfolding around everyday logic using conflicting materials of concrete and found objects from demolished residential and industrial complexes throughout Shanghai, Zhang’s sculptures are filled with metaphors of interior/exterior and public/private urban lives that entwine. Using the interesting layout of SSSSTART Museum’s project space, the artist has created unique site-specific sculptures and graphic works which we will explore.
