Time & Location
Dec 01, 2021, 9:45 AM – 12:00 PM
About the Event
In China, calligraphy occupies a distinguished position in the field of traditional art. It is not only a means of communication but also a means of expressing a person's inner world in an aesthetic sense. This workshop starts with a lecture by Janny Chyn from Shanghai Pathways, which will acquaint us with the techniques of how calligraphy was taught and learned in China over the centuries. During the hands-on practice, we will focus on the basic strokes and forms of written Chinese characters, with emphasis on the techniques, methods, and practice of brush writing. We will learn to sit and concentrate on the movement of the brush. By the end of the session, we will finish a calligraphy artwork to bring back home.
