About the Event
Like incense burning, tea ceremonies, and painting, flower arranging was part of the lifestyle among the literati of ancient China. Flower arrangements were first used as an offering to Buddha during the Wei and Jin dynasty periods (300AD), and later in the Tang and Song dynasties it developed into a hobby. Flower arranging is an expression of one’s inner self, spirit, and appreciation of nature. In this class, Natalie will explain to us the philosophy and guidelines behind Chinese flower arranging and then we will make our own flower arrangement with her guidance.
