Join us as we learn about the history and significance behind the Chinese qipao and its development throughout Chinese history. Our guide, Janny Chyn from Shanghai Pathways and the Shanghai Qipao Culture Promotion Association, will talk about the different styles and designs, and will also explain how to walk and behave while wearing one. Qipao models will perform a catwalk to show the charm of this dress.

Most of the qipaos we will see are the private collections of the Shanghai Qipao Culture Promotion Association and are not for sale (this is not a shopping event). However, we will get tips and suggestions from qipao insiders regarding how to tailor, understand the quality and difference in materials, and where to shop. If you already have your own qipao, you are welcome to wear it to the event.
