Hengsha Island, often called the “longevity eco-island,” is a clean and quiet escape with no industry and more than 70 percent tree coverage. Orchards stretch across the island, making it a true delight to explore by bike. 

Our journey begins with a 1.5-hour bus ride from Shanghai to Changxing Island, followed by a short ferry trip to Hengsha. Once there, we will choose our bikes and enjoy an easy one-hour ride to a local restaurant for lunch. 

In the afternoon, we will cycle at a relaxed pace along the coastline, where wetlands attract birds and water buffalo. We will also pass through villages where farmers’ houses are surrounded by colorful flowers and vegetable gardens. The day concludes at an orchard, where we can pick fresh fruit.
