DAY TRIP: Lake Tai Biking and Fruit Picking
COST: RMB 650 MEET: Hengshan Road Station, exit 1 Near 261 Hengshan Rd.
Time & Location
Mar 10, 7:45 AM – 7:00 PM
About the Event
Lake Tai is the third largest fresh-water lake of China. Its biggest island, Xishan, is blessed with clear water, beautiful villages, and lovely orchards. It is best described by the islanders: “Among waters, there are hills. Among hills, there are flowers. Among flowers, there are villages.”
We will take a two hour bus ride from Shanghai and then start biking on the bridge that connects the mainland with the islands. After about 15 kilometers biking around the island and enjoying the beautiful lake view, we will arrive at a local restaurant for lunch. Here we will treat ourselves with famous Lake Tai treasures – fresh water fish, shrimps, and delicious veggies. After lunch, we will make a trip to Shigong Hill to get a bird’s eye view. Then, we will bike to a farm to pick strawberries. Finally, we will pedal to the bridge and drive back to the city.
Cycling distance is 25-30 kilometers
