Wuzhen, a World Heritage site, is known for tranquil willow lined canals and ancient architecture dating back over 2000 years. Most of the ancient residential houses, workshops, and stores still standing on the banks of the rivers have remained unchanged for centuries, lending an atmosphere of antiquity to this ancient town. Wuzhen was home to the great Chinese literature master Mao Dun. Inside the water town, you will also visit the Chinese Foot Binding Culture Museum. Foot binding was practiced in China for over 1000 years. The museum displays hundreds of pairs of foot binding shoes from various regions of China, as well as many pictures and foot binding tools.
