About the Event
Shanghai was built on the water and prospered by the water. As the city's mother river, Suzhou Creek has witnessed the prosperity, decline, and revival of Shanghai. Janny Chyn from Shanghai Pathways will take us to walk the east part of Suzhou Creek to feel the changes of the last century and travel back to Shanghai in the 1920s and experience the golden age. Learn the story of the first Chinese business group, Shanghai Chamber of Commerce, Sir Victor Sassoon's haunted apartment, go inside the largest postal office in the far east, find out where the first western movie was screened in Shanghai, and an insider's tour to find out how the city's first western hospital turned into Suzhou Creek's most luxurious hotel.
