About the Event
Baduanjin qigong is one of the most famous and widely practiced forms of qigong in China, with a history of more than 1,000 years. It first became popular during the Song dynasty (960–1279 AD), much like tai chi is today. Because of its effectiveness for physical fitness, it was adopted by Shaolin monks as one of the entry-level exercises for martial arts training.
The practice consists of eight graceful movements designed to strengthen the internal organs as well as the muscles and tendons. Baduanjin harmonizes movement, energy, and breathing, making it an ideal lifelong exercise for most people. It is especially recommended for those who spend long hours at a desk. Regular practice can improve overall health and vitality.
