The western part of the former French Concession was where many of the city’s wealthiest families once built their suburban retreats. This area showcases magnificent examples of foreign-built villas that eventually became the homes of famous Chinese authors, politicians, and other notables. With Shanghai and Beyond, we’ll wander back in time to the lanes of Frenchtown to discover an author’s obsession with a unique language designed to encourage peace among different nationalities. The breathtaking ship-inspired Normandie building can be viewed from every angle as we reveal the story behind the building’s nickname. Sample wine using an enomatic wine machine and observe the various campaigns from Mao to now at the propaganda poster museum.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend an event after receipt of confirmation, please notify us immediately by emailing events@seashanghai.org.  If it's the day of an event, please ALSO notify the coordinator listed on the event by phone, text or WeChat. 

If you need to cancel after the event’s cancel-by date, our SEA cancellation policy applies which states you might still have to pay for your registered event, depending on the vendor. SEA will notify you to either collect or let you pay it at your next registered event.
