About the Event
Join us as we explore the Huangpu River by bike! There are 13 bridges over the Huangpu and our ride will bring us to four of them. We will start from the south end of the bike trail along the river close to Xupu Bridge on the Pudong side.
The second bridge along the ride is Nanpu Bridge. It is the oldest one in the city center and it was built in 1991 as part of the development in Pudong.
We will continue the ride to the third bridge, Lupu Bridge, which once was the longest steel arch bridge in the world. The area by Lupu is the former site from the 2010 World Exposition. Many of the pavilions and structures from the Expo have been converted into museums, shops, and restaurants. The Expo Wetland Park is also in this area, which has many lovely flowers and plants.
Before we make our way to Lujiazui, the financial district in Pudong, we will have a lunch break at one of the restaurants by the river. The ride to Lujiazui has breathtaking views of the most famous landmarks of the city.
Finally, we will reach the fourth and final bridge of the ride. The Yangpu Bridge was built two years after Nanpu and was originally not painted. For the millennium it was painted its recognizable red.
