About the Event
The five-kilometer wall was built more than 450 years ago to protect the city from being attacked by pirates who came from the East China Sea. Later, it became an obstacle for developing a huge modern city and was demolished. A ring road was built when the moat and rivers were filled. “Real” Shanghai is within the ring road but it is disappearing. We will be biking around the old town and through the winding alleys to fully explore the local neighborhoods that won’t be there for too long. We will also pay a visit to the Confucius Temple and have wontons from a small restaurant that has a story to tell.
