About the Event
There is a local rumor that Shanghai women are the boss. Shanghai´s women are the strongest and most powerful in the country. But we also know about times when women in China had been bound to their area of the house.
This walk with Annette Mehlhorn from China Culture Consulting will tell us more about Chinese women during the 19th and 20th centuries. We will learn about their fight for independence and quest to become artists, revolutionists, business women, and scientists. And we will decipher the famous quote of Mao Zedong - “half of the sky is carried by women.”
