Retro Cocktails and History along Bubbling Well Road
Time & Location
About the Event
What could be better than sipping an authentic 1930s cocktail while learning about the history of Shanghai? Patrick Cranley of Historic Shanghai has worked with the classy Henkes restaurant to present a trio of vintage cocktails based on original recipes from DD’s, one of old Shanghai’s most celebrated watering holes. We will enjoy a “Shanghai Millionaire” before strolling on and near Bubbling Well Road (called West Nanjing Road today) to learn about some of the people and places that made Shanghai one of the world’s most interesting cities: a Masonic Lodge, a cemetery, a World War II internment camp, and the former homes of actresses, Communist heroes, and, well, Shanghai millionaires!
