About the Event
Join us as we explore some riverside galleries along the Huangpu River by bike! Starting on the Pudong side of the river from the Yangpu Bridge, we will first make our way to Lujiazui and bike among the skyscrapers. Continuing onwards along the river, we will stop to admire the Modern Art Museum, formerly a coal bunker. This museum hosts exhibitions and plays a major role in connecting artists and the public through events, forums, and the arts. Afterwards we will have a coffee break at a nearby shop.
We will then pedal to the Nanpu Bridge and take a ferry across the Huangpu River to Puxi. There we will bike in the former Expo 2010 area that included corporate pavilions sponsored by companies like Cisco, Aurora, and General Motors. We will pay a visit to the Power Station of Art which was the Future Pavilion during the Expo. After that, we will ride to a local noodle restaurant for a quick bite.
After lunch, we will bike past the Dragon Museum (also known as the Long Museum) in Xuhui. This is the largest private museum in China and is built on the site of a former coal hopper. The museum focuses on contrasts between western, eastern, ancient, and contemporary disciplines. We will end our tour with a visit to the West Bund Museum. Total cycling distance will be approximately 21km.
