About the Event
During our time in Shanghai, many of us have made, or will make, the journey to Xi’an to visit Emperor Qin’s famed Terracotta Warriors. Depending upon the local guide, however, the history and the stories surrounding this extraordinary archaeological site can be conveyed with varying degrees of depth and accuracy.
Whether you have already encountered the famed warriors or have yet to visit, this sit-down art history session with Julie Chun, Adjunct Professor of Art History, will offer scholarly insight into the ongoing research surrounding one of China’s most significant discoveries. Drawing on recent scholarship and evolving interpretations, this session will examine Emperor Qin within the larger global context of ruling elites.
